Can I use cURL with my account?

cURL lets software send HTTP and HTTPS requests to other servers. It is commonly used by PHP applications to retrieve APIs, submit forms, and communicate with external services.

PHP cURL and the command-line tool are different

A PHP application needs the PHP cURL extension. The system command named curl is a separate command-line program and is not the same thing as the PHP extension. A path such as /usr/bin/curl applies only to the command-line binary on servers where that path exists.

Check whether PHP cURL is available

Review the PHP extensions available to your account in the control panel, or check your application's requirements and contact support if cURL is not listed. PHP settings can vary by account and selected PHP version.

If you create a temporary diagnostic script to test an extension, do not expose configuration details or credentials, and remove the script as soon as the test is complete. Avoid publishing a phpinfo() page.

If a cURL request fails

  1. Check the destination URL and confirm the remote service is reachable.
  2. Read the application's error message without displaying sensitive response data to visitors.
  3. Confirm that the PHP cURL extension is enabled for the version used by the site.
  4. If the problem appears server-related, contact support with the error and the time it occurred; never send passwords or API secrets in a public message.

cURL availability does not guarantee that every remote API will accept a request. The destination service may require authentication, allow-listing, or specific request settings.
